Together Against Corona! Partnership between Thirona and Smart Reporting

Featured Image

In early spring, three innovative projects came together to create AI-enabled solutions for diagnosing Coronavirus. The result is the SmartCAD | COVID-19

Smart Reporting, Thirona, and Amazon Web Services, created an innovative solution in only a few months that analyzes CT images of patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infections using an AI-algorithm: SmartCAD.

The solution makes radiologists’ workflows more efficient by offering automated image analysis. The platform is hosted on AWS and is accessible worldwide at no cost to any radiologist. Importantly, SmartCAD is straightforward without requiring a lot of training so that it makes much more sense in the current clinical environment.

This cooperation was made possible by:

  • Prof. Dr. Wieland Sommer, Professor of Radiology and Harvard School of Public Health alumni, CEO, and founder of Smart Reporting Gmbh.
  • Prof. Dr. Bram van Ginneken, Professor of Medical Image Analysis at Radboud University Medical Center and co-founder of Thirona.
  • Dr. Eva van Rikxoort, Managing Director and co-founder of Thirona
  • Dr. Razvan Ionasec, Healthcare Technical Leader of Amazon Web Services, Public Sector in EMEA
